The Truth about Motivation

So many people are searching for the holy grail in order to help them reach their pinnacle of success. We want so badly to be one of the “Lucky One’s” who were smart enough, bold enough, savvy enough, quick enough to invest in the next Big Idea, work for the next great company, or pick the winning lottery ticket.

The stark reality is that most people spend a majority of their finite energy looking “outside” themselves for their success cues. What are other people doing, investing in or working towards? When instead they should be looking and working on their “inside” game. Where their thoughts, curiosities and passions lie. We are hard wired to look for the easiest way to accomplish success. Our brains are looking for the minimum amount of effort to get the maximum amount of reward.

Imagine giving a mathematician this equation:

Minimum Input 20% in = Maximum output 100% out

The smartest mathematical minds in the world could spend their entire lifetimes working on this equation and fail to come up with a solution. Why? Because the physical world we live in doesn’t work this way.

In addition, we have roughly 40 years to make our mark in the world. And if our goals include financial success then one must take into consideration that on average it takes self made millionaire’s 22 years to save their first million. Therefore, NOW sounds like it’s the best time to get our momentum moving in the right direction, the direction we want to go…[arrows style=”arrow-8-1.png” align=”center”]

Towards our goals, dreams and ambitions and away from that which we don’t want – poverty, boredom and fatigue.

Some home truths to consider:

Success breeds success or put another way, an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted on by another object of like intensity.                                                                                                                                               Newtons First Law of Motion

An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

This law is often called
“the law of inertia”.

Think Big and Make it a point to be around, regularly visit or (if lucky) to “Hang Out” with other successful people. The bigger your goals and ambitions the more energy, money, and brains (a.k.a. smart & motivated people) you need to get your project moving and keep it moving towards fruition.

                                             Newton’s Second Law of Motion

Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass (of the object being accelerated) the greater the amount of force needed (to accelerate the object).

or FORCE = MASS times ACCELERATION

Be prepared to give it everything you’ve got for as long as it takes. And Everything you’ve got should be ample to get you above the crowd of naysayers and those that fail to make a true commitment to their goals and dreams.

Victory is sweet for a reason. Not everyone gets the chance to taste victory because not everyone is able to commit to their goals and dreams with relentless energy, passion and enthusiasm to propel themselves along the often times uphill battle that is most unfashionably called work. Work has solved many of seemingly unsurmountable problems.

                                                          Newtons Third Law of Motion

For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action.

If you can imagine that you’re the Rocketship and your energy and motivation is the fuel to propel the rocket-ship out of the atmosphere. The gravitaional pull could be the forces of laziness and mediocrity not to mention naysayers holding you (The Rocket-ship) back. It’s gonna take everything you’ve got to get you to outer space (your dreams) but once you reach a certain point and you’re in motion then it takes less energy, and more strategy and insightful manoeuvring to reach your target. But once you’re up there it’s easier to stay there and reach for other STARS! * thanks to teachertech.rice.edu for the nice quiz and simple explanation of Newton’s laws.
