Year in – Year out we all push harder and harder to attain higher and higher goals. We constantly feel the urge to do more, be more, accomplish more, so we can get more out of our businesses and do more in our personal lives.
This is our ever present form of motivation; Action and Accumulation at all cost which is fine until you realize that in all the chasing, scheming and desiring you could possibly have been a bit more discerning by virtue of which would have undoubtedly helped you accomplish your real aims.
Nature doesn’t work that way and we are a pretty big part of nature. Nature just does what it does naturally. It works with what it has and makes do. A plant will grow to the optimal size that it can based on the sunlight, water and nutrients it has available to it over it’s growth stage.
Often times if we just took a deep breath before heading out the door, making that rash purchase or making that commitment that may or may not serve you or your business at this moment then we would make wiser (=Better) decisions.
The simple effects of deep breathing and pausing throughout your hectic day will multiply over time and give you benefits beyond your business. The Government of British Columbia’s has a whole section on their website dedicated to healthy living called call Healthlink and there’s even a section on the benefits of Healthy breathing techniques in order to better manage stress.
Breathing is supposed to be an automatic thing but when we get too caught up in our daily drama’s often the first natural thing to stop being so natural is our steady flow of air through our lungs. By learning some simple awareness techniques and focusing our attention directly in the NOW (our current situation) and breathing deeply allowing oxygen to fill our bloodstream and rush to our heads. Bam! we’ll have more horsepower available for better decisions making.
By doing this you will find simple things more satisfying. You will stop automatically going for more. You offer yourself a chance to choose and possibly shift your focus to a deeper understanding or a better quality decision-making process.
Your outcome will always be more fulfilling and you will feel much more in control and the real affect will be a stronger feeling of success. One breath at a time…
