What is in some ways meant to be a metaphorical statement;

 “I can’t wait to get out of the rate race”

can seem very factual when you’re actually caught in it or otherwise have an opportunity to compare your current work/life situation to that of an actual “rat race.”

We’re all caught up in it in some shape form or fashion and even if you have a chance to escape it briefly –  the thrill of rushing around and being too busy to contemplate or alas feel some sort of contentment is still always there berating you as if to say, “c’mon… who are you kidding? You know you love the rush of self-importance you get when you’re rushing around too busy to think clearly and logically allowing your emotions to be pushed, pulled and cajoled into making you “feel alive” and in “the now” this is what you love – this feeling is what you are. Why try to escape this awesome state of belonging to something even if this something is actually the modern-self-created-human-race-machine?”

Well, my rebuttal is that unless you’ve been able to reflect upon your life, your good actions and questionable behaviors by either briefly escaping your normal day to day trajectory and unless you’ve been able to do the projects and work that give you true meaning then you really shouldn’t conclude with 100% certainty that you desire to be in the rat race.

The human rat race is certainly a thrill for your emotional demands and it certainly makes you feel like you’re accomplishing great things and moving mountains but this is only a “feeling” and probably not an accurate assessment of your real contribution to humanity.

You must be able to view your life and all its wondrous connections from a higher plane of view, you must be able to still the waters to see an accurate and true reflection of what’s really important to you and your place in this world. Where you can have the most significant impact if you’re given the space to do your best most thoughtful and passionate work.

You must jump out of the powerful current of the river and view it from the banks to really see where you want to go and where you want to be before you jump back in. Once you understand things from a higher and deeper perspective then you can leverage your intelligence and your energy to create what you want in this world

“Without pressure from external forces and without the thoughts and opinions of others. “

You stand alone with your own thoughts and personal spirit. You feel connected; you feel “no pressure” either internally or externally. You are free, you are free to choose, you are free to respond, you are complete.

It is in this state that you will make the most impact in your own world and of course our world if you so choose to actively participate. Now… Why don’t you come out and play? This is supposed to be interesting and fun!!
