Being the Best You Can Be

How hard of a worker do you consider yourself to be? Would you consider yourself someone who gets the job done “no matter what?” Are you someone that has a reputation for getting things done on time and within budget? Do you put your job and your career first amongst all other things?

I sincerely believe that this is how you have to be if you want to succeed at the highest level. I also know that very few people can maintain this kind of single-minded, focused intensity for an extended period of time.

In order to achieve great success, you need to be able to focus and have a phenomenal support system around you that takes care of the other important aspects of your life. Simply because sustained high performance takes considerable effort and you have to give up many things that are also important for a full life in order to reach dizzying heights in a profession or career. Knowing what you want and setting up your life and support system accordingly is the smartest thing you can do from the outset.

People will generally support you and your cause if they know how important it is to you. People also love to help out in any way they can if they know they are loved and appreciated for their help and support. Knowing that your priorities will change over the course of your life is also an important aspect to consider.

What’s important to you in your 20’s will be different in your 30’s and then again in your 40’s and so on. Making sure you are adjusting your priorities as your values shift over time is an important exercise to consider at least every couple of years.

Sure it’s important to know where you want to end up but what you’ll inevitably find is that you will hit forks in the road and there will be times when you have to take care of personal or family matters that weren’t a part of your original well thought out plans. Having the wisdom to understand which decision needs to be made at each critical juncture will be crucial in keeping on your path to success.

Nobody ever said that this was going to be easy and all great achievements are definitely worth a few personal sacrifices along the way.

I wish you good luck and godspeed on your climb to self – actualization.
