Up and at ’em

by Dom Kotarski

If you’re in business for yourself then you’re in sales; SALES is the never ending, very necessary process of your growth year in – year out. Wether you look at your numbers daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly. It’s your responsibility to push the needle onwards and upwards.

How you grow your customer or client base will vary from business to business but pushing those numbers ever higher is the goal.

“We do things today other’s won’t do so we can do the things tomorrow others can’t afford to do” my manager would often say. Meaning, get up and at ’em early and push the extra mile if we had to in order to hit our goals. Then discipline ourselves enough to save some of our spoils.

Live below your means and your future will be secure. There’s no guarantee as we get older that we will have the same drive and ambition that we had when we were in our 20’s or 30’s. If you spend all your money or more money than you make in your 20’s and 30’s and then run out of steam in your 40’s and 50’s when you will more than likely have more mouths to feed and extended familial responsibilities, then you’ll be glad you followed this advice.

It’s great to know what your working towards and that the end game will leave you with the ability to live life the way you want. Travel, see friends, enjoy your children’s growth years. Time does seem to accelerate as one gets closer to the half century mark.

So do yourself a favor and embrace each day with the “Get up and at ’em! Attitude.”You’ll be glad you did.
