Inspiration

What’s the opposite of drudgery, boredom, status quo? Why do people keep doing the same things they’ve always done but expecting a different outcome? Why do we stick at jobs we abhor? Why do we put up with too much crap? Why do we often suffer fools gladly? Could it be that we are missing the most important ingredient to our personal success? Are we missing some good ol fashioned…

INSPIRATION?

I believe for most of us inspiration can be stoked internally by getting closer to the core of our being. We are a swirling combination of our past experiences, our present situation and our future hopes and dreams. In order to maintain our inspiration we need to improve our ability to pay close attention to our current daily habits. One of the first questions we should ask of ourselves is:

How do I habitually relate to the people, places and things around me?

The second question we should ask ourselves is:

Have I always generally felt the same way I do now about my future possibilities?

Lastly and most importantly if the answer to the latter question is “No, I have not. I generally and continually feel less inspired about what I’m doing and where I’m going in my current situation.” Then I would highly suggest you do the following;

Take a quick time out and look at your past accomplishments. What challenges have you overcome? What decisions did you make when faced with these challenges? What are you most proud of accomplishing? Has your book been written for you or have you been the sole author of your story thus far? Are there decisions and changes you could possibly make now that could move you more towards a life filled with inspiration? If so, why don’t you get started on some of those today!

Utilize your positive energy and new inspiration to guide you towards a lighter, more fun filled existence. We are meant to enjoy our time here. We were not born to work, work, work. We were not born to only live for our projects or our reputation. We are here to explore, have fun, be with loved ones. We are here to learn, grow and try new things. Seek new interests. Life is not a rut so if you find yourself in one then it’s time to get yourself out. (see illustration below)

INSPIRATION INITIATOR

There’s a simple three step process that I developed and use frequently when I feel I’ve gotten myself into a rut. Here it is:

  1. I look for patterns of Interests (small sparks or big flames) in my past (from my childhood through to my present day)
  2. I follow my interests and connect the dots to any External Stimuli (Fuel)
  3. I look for any and all Positive Feedback (small synchronistic nudges)

If there is some residue curiosity that engages my thoughts then I look for ways that I can juice the process a little more. The goal is to see where this new found interest takes me and to be the ultimate catalysts (C.E.O) of my increasingly interesting and passionate life.

My blogs are meant to be interactive and my thoughts are meant to stimulate conversation. Please share your thoughts and personal inspiration stories and methods with me in the comment sections below. We can all learn and grow from each-other but only if we share 🙂
