Reaching Your Fullest Potential

What does it really take to reach your full potential? How often have you pushed yourself beyond your capabilities? How often have you or someone else pushed you to new heights? Did it ever work? Did you succeed in blowing past your expectations?

Countless Studies show that we do our best when we’re in the flow. When we seem to be doing whatever it is we do in a sort of focused, effortless, fun state of performance. Sure we developed our skill through countless hours of focused practice. Some days we ended up forcing ourselves to practice and often we made ourselves compete when we didn’t feel we were operating at our optimum. Through this struggle and through our consistent effort we improved and we got better. Inevitably, we had our good days and we had our rough days but over the long haul and because of our persistent practice and time served we were able to refine our skill and master our craft.

“Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill, and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.” Muhammad Ali

This is what it takes to reach your full potential in any endeavor that you pursue. It’s that relentless focus and passion for your craft that will get you there and will keep you there if you continue on that path.

So many people quit too soon, so many people give up on their goals and lose their passion, their vision of a better future and stop. If you never stop then there is no end point and therefore no end to your pursuit of excellence. Every endeavor you might choose will surely have more talented or gifted players than yourself. But you are the one to decide who is the most dedicated, the hardest working, the most positive, the toughest-minded with the best attitude.

As you know these attributes are the qualities that separate those that become champions and those that make runner up. If you weren’t first in line when the talents and gifts were handed out then you can certainly be sure to skip ahead of 90% of the pack by choosing the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn. These are the qualities that true champions possess and these are the qualities that you can count on to be with you along the path to reach your true potential.
