A Lovely Day

A good friend of mine just recently shared with me his “Perfect Day.” I promised to write mine down and send it to him so we could help support each other to bring our Perfect Day’s to fruition.

I had no intention of sharing my version of a perfect and “Lovely Day” on my blog but when I opened my laptop this afternoon to write my weekly article my “Perfect Day” was staring right at me compelling me to share more of my inner self on this beautiful January 2, 2017. It’s the beginning of a fruitful and powerful year for all of us. So here goes…

I wake up feeling refreshed from a great nights sleep full of colourful dreams. If Christina is still asleep which is not normally the case then I look at her peacefulness in her sleep and kiss her slightly so she doesn’t wake up. If she’s already up and moving then I lie in bed for a moment and enjoy the peaceful quietness of the morning.

I get out of our bed and make my way down stairs to the smell of fresh roasted coffee and grab a cup. If it’s summer time then I go outside to sit in the morning sun.

I am both reading and meditating. In my meditation I am thinking about my loved ones and how grateful I am for having them in my life and how grateful I am for living in a peaceful society. I think about the trials and tribulations of those in the world that do not have the luxury of living in a peaceful environment and give them hopeful thoughts.

I move my meditation onto my day ahead on those things that I want to do, and those things that I need to do to keep projects and dreams moving in the right direction.

Then I move to reading my magazines or any good book or inspirational literature until I feel satisfied.

Next it’s time for some exercise, hopefully outside either running the trails or swimming in my awesome swimming pool or perhaps a natural clean body of water either a beautiful lake or the ocean.

After exercise I come back to my house and enjoy my outside shower surrounded by beautiful plants. I then join my loved ones for a nice breakfast, fresh fruit, croissants, orange juice, muesli, or perhaps a spicy omelet.

After breakfast I’m ready to start my day’s production by first writing my “to-do” list and looking at those things I need to get done in order to push my projects forward. Which people I need to reach out to, those that I’m still waiting on and what I want to learn or study so I can create more value for my clients, business and family.

Then I attack my list and feel great satisfaction that my day is moving along as planned, I allow time for any interruptions if my family or work colleagues or business partners needs me for something.

After the morning business is handled I find that I’ve accomplished enough to take the afternoon off. I’m able to walk to one of my favorite lunch spots. I have time to read a financial newspaper to see what else is happening around the world that might interest me. Perhaps, I meet a friend for lunch or get a call from one of my good friends or colleagues suggesting a new client has just come on board or good news about how well their life or business is fairing.

Later in the afternoon, I touch base with Christina. Perhaps she would like to go for a kayak trip or a bike ride. We can round up our kids to visit a nice little dinner spot and invite some friends or just go by ourselves.

We have a wonderful evening full of great food, great conversation and funny moments.

We get back home for a nice cozy evening watching a great show or playing games with the family before heading to bed.

We think and say to one another,

“What a lovely Day!”

go to sleep… Repeat!!

When I finished writing my perfect day, I realized that I’m currently living pretty close to my ideal day now. I’m just missing the awesome swimming pool in my backyard. I do need to have something to work towards.

What’s yours? It was a great little exercise to help me both realize how far I’ve come and what I still need to work diligently towards.

If you would like to share yours with me then that would be great and maybe we can help one other make our “Perfect Day” a Routine Reality!
